The First Taste of Fall

After 2 brutal weeks of 2-a-days in excruciating weather conditions, the Columbus Crusaders finally got the chance to tee it up against Columbus Centennial this morning. Centennial, dressed in their game reds, appeared to outsize our Crusaders at every position, but our guys more than held their own.

Using a balanced attack, the Crusaders scored three times during the offensive and defensive series exchanges, with each team running 4 series of 10 plays each, regardless of yards gained. The Crusader Defense held Centennial scoreless and also came up with an interception at a crucial time when it appeared that Centennial might just punch one in.

However, when the real game scenarios set in during the second part of today's scrimmage, Centennial found its second wind, moving the ball down the field against a tiring Crusader Defense to answer a Crusaders scoring drive with one of their own.

All in all, it was a great first showing for our young men and the position coaches. Next stop...a Friday scrimmage at Buckeye Valley.
